Artist Statement

The flight of a refugee is a desperate one. When a conflagration erupts, in an instant, people can find themselves torn from all they've ever known. The hardship and deprivation of the exodus they must endure is made worse by the fear of what awaits at journeys end- oftentimes a wall, a barbed fence or a phalanx of armed guards and not what is so desperately hoped for- kindness, a welcoming embrace, a show of humanity. — Brixton Doyle
